JDRF SDP Campaign

Convergency founder Larry Soler played a central role in quarterbacking several successful JDRF campaigns to secure renewal of the federal Special Diabetes Program (SDP) which directs $150 million a year to T1D research. Melding strategic media elements such as op eds in key national and local news outlets, grassroots and grasstops efforts for key lawmakers to demonstrate to them broad constituent support for the program, and outreach to the diabetes community, these campaigns have  helped create  unprecedented bi-partisan support for SDP renewal with nearly three-fourths of the US Senate and nearly 300 members of the U.S. House of Representatives signing a letter to leadership endorsing the program in the most recent renewal effort.   To date, this program has delivered $5 billion in mandatory funding for diabetes research and treatment programs.
